her.

My mother carried the warmth and wisdom of the Dominican Republic across the waters. From her, I learned that nourishment is love made visible and when you answer the call of a new land, it meets you with blessings.

She named me JAMILA ALEEM (“beautiful world” in Arabic), which became my purpose: to create a BEAUTIFUL WORLD inside and out.

I am a mother and grandmother to girls— only girls. Part of a beautiful lineage— daughters birthing daughters— instinct passed down in the form of care, presence and intuition.

This matrilineal thread lives in my body.

I sovereignly birthed and privately educated my daughters, raising them close to the Earth. And as I live, I become a place where sisterhood blooms.

I am a birth worker, holding space at the threshold of life. I open my home, my table, my hands—hosting artisan marketplaces, tea gatherings, and intimate circles. I conjure spaces born from a deep knowing that women are meant to gather, create and sustain one another.

My calling is THRESHOLD WORK — the act of holding space where transformation has no choice but to happen — altruistic, ceremonial and on PURPOSE.

This is my inheritance.

Love, Jamila.
